The a depiction of the excitement at the head of the trail, followed by winding paths and obstacles, and finally finishing with a canon-syle finale that symbolizes the vast, unobstructed views that you see in all directions as your reach the pinnacle of the trail.
This work only uses the first 6 notes, with one instance of concert A-natural. It was designed to give my students the feel of a "real" piece or a great concert opener, while still being highly attainable and tuneful.

Beacon Heights Overlook is a scenic viewpoint located off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Boone, North Carolina. It offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains and the picturesque valleys below. The overlook is situated at an elevation of around 4,430 feet, providing breathtaking views of a small portion of the rolling hills and lush forests that the Blue Ridge has to offer.
The music in this work emulates a beautiful sunrise over the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the excitement and anticipation that comes with a new day.
When I was in college, we would make the short drive to Beacon Heights often, and the memories that this location carries are priceless. I hope you and your students enjoy!
