Band Announcements -Week of January 26

Professor Doug Bush will be visiting all three concert bands on Wednesday to present information regarding opportunities at UNL. Seniors may play for Mr. Bush and count it as their first round audition for UNL. Details are posted in the band room.
Solo & Ensemble Contest is less than a month away! Students should be meeting with accompanists (if needed), and gathering original music (not photocopies) for the judge. Details for the new Soup/Supper event will be out soon. Performance times for the contest will not be available for another couple of weeks.
Our next Band Concert will be Monday, February 9th at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. Attire will be all black.
Pep Band will meet at 5:00 again this Friday The theme is “Superhero night.” (As always, these should be school appropriate.)
Results of the playing tests taken last week have been posted. Students should take a look at this before starting to register for classes so they know which class to sign up for.
Speaking of registration, we’d like to remind all students that there are several other music classes offered that are NOT ensembles. Guitar, Music Theory, and Music Technology are available. These classes only happen if enough students sign up. We realize that schedules can be tight but please consider one or more of these in the future.

The Band Program
Students at Lincoln East are very fortunate to have a wide variety of quality music ensemble opportunities. Below is a brief summary of each group and its role in the East Band Program. These ensembles can be subdivided into two major groups: Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular.

Co-curricular ensembles meet during the school day and you must be enrolled through Lincoln East to participate. You receive a grade for these ensembles and therefore must adhere to the grading requirements set forth by each class.

Extra-Curricular ensembles are not classes. They typically meet outside the school day and in no way are required to be in Band at East. They are meant to be extra opportunities that are open to East Band students.
