Band Announcements -Week of April 20

Congrats on a great contest day yesterday –Freshman Band received a 2 (Excellent) rating, Symphonic Band received a 2, and Wind Ensemble received a 1 (Superior). We are very proud of the culmination of all the work the students have put in this semester.

The Spring Concert /Awards Night is Tuesday, May 12th at 6:00pm in the Auditorium. Reception to follow.

Jazz Café is Monday, April 27th at 7:00 in the Commons.

Two scholarships are available, both are due May 1st:
1) Band Booster Scholarship –this is available to Seniors who are going to play in an ensemble in college.
2) Band Camp Scholarship –this available to anyone going to a music camp this summer and would like some help off-setting the costs.

Leadership will be posted May 1st!

Drumline and Color Guard tryouts are the week of May 4th to May 8th from 3:15 to 4:30.

East Band Boosters Executive Board Announcements ~ April 13, 2015

Be sure to order your 2014-15 East Band DVD. You can place your order tonight and pick it up at the May 12 concert. Payment is due when you place your order. Each DVD is $8.00. Order forms will be available before tonight's concert.

District Music Contest is at Northeast High on April 20. We need 4 adult chaperones to ride on the bus with the freshman. If you can help, please sign up here. (The contest sessions are free and open to everyone. You can download a schedule here.)

We have updated the Band Boosters Constitution, please review and it will be voted on during the May Booster meeting. You can see the Constitution with the proposed revisions here.

If you have a senior that is graduating, or a student that had a growth spurt and you will no longer be needing your band apparel (dri-fit shirt, shorts, “old-style” blue polo, band shoes, band parent jackets, etc.) it can be donated back to the band program. There will be a donation box in the band room. You can send it to school with your student, or bring it to the next Band Booster Meeting May 7.

Marcus Theatre Orders are due on April 23 - gives you 11 days to order Marcus Theatre Tickets for Summer Vacation! The instruction sheet and the order form can be found on the site. Orders can be picked up at the May 12 Band Banquet.

We are offering levels of sponsorships:

White sponsors - $250 (your name listed on the site)
Blue sponsors - $500 (your name and logo listed on the site)
Spartan sponsors - $750 (your name and logo above Blue sponsors, larger print)
Ultimate Spartan sponsors - $1000 (your name and logo above Spartan sponsors, much larger and more prominent)

Parents, Please see the attached document to find when groups perform at our District Music Contest on Monday, April 20th.  Transportation will be provided for 9th grade ensembles but older students will arrange transportation themselves.  We will have a mass excusal that goes to all staff for the day, explaining what ensembles will miss which periods.  Attire will be all black.

More details to come as it gets closer.  You are welcome to attend --there is no admission.  The kids could use a few friendly faces in the seats.  It is kind of an odd performance in that since most other bands are either warming up, performing or traveling back to their school, so there's usually not much of an audience for the ensembles.  You are invited to come and watch! Marcus Theatre Ticket Sales

Marcus Theatre Tickets make excellent gifts for any occasion. With the holiday season gearing up, why not have a stockpile of certificates on hand!  There are specific gift packages available including gift cards.  The band receives 15% of sales and for every two tickets you purchase, you receive a $3 voucher for concessions. The Band Program
Students at Lincoln East are very fortunate to have a wide variety of quality music ensemble opportunities. Below is a brief summary of each group and its role in the East Band Program. These ensembles can be subdivided into two major groups: Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular.

Co-curricular ensembles meet during the school day and you must be enrolled through Lincoln East to participate. You receive a grade for these ensembles and therefore must adhere to the grading requirements set forth by each class.

Extra-Curricular ensembles are not classes. They typically meet outside the school day and in no way are required to be in Band at East. They are meant to be extra opportunities that are open to East Band students.
