Band Announcements - Week of December 15th

Our Winter Concert is Monday, December 15th at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. Groups performing will be the Junior /Senior Band, Freshman/Sophomore Band, and the Jazz Band.

The concert attire is ALL BLACK for the next several concerts and will be this way from now on for ALL ensembles. Guidelines have been discussed in class and at the November booster meeting. Details are:
Concert Attire: Switching from concert “uniform” to all black for all ensembles.
Ladies: will be in black PANTS. Not leggings. No skirts or dresses. Hair will be back. Shoes must be closed toe without heels.
Gentlemen: Button down shirt, long sleeve preferred. Black pants, not black jeans. Dress shoes (band shoes will work fine.)
This is not a fashion show. The emphasis is on the music.

The Boosters will be selling popcorn and chocolates at the concert Monday night. Help support the band and they make great gifts.

The Solo & Ensemble first round audition is Wednesday and students should sign up in the hallway for a time slot. Results will be announced over the Winter break via email. We will take the best 60 events from Band, Choir, and Orchestra to perform at the LPS Contest in February. It is preferred that soloists perform with their accompanists but not required.

There are some additional volunteer hours available in addition to our gift wrapping at the mall. Students are needed at the Madonna Invitational Tournament this Saturday to serve as scorekeepers and clock operators. The link to sign up

Students will no longer need instruments in class unless performing Wednesday with a solo or small ensemble. Please take instruments home over the break. It’s a great time to practice some other music, perform for family and friends, or take it in to the shop to get cleaned or fixed up for second semester.

We will have a BAND LOCKER CLEAN-OUT on the Wednesday morning during our final time, which is 8:00-9:30. Students are invited to bring some treats to share with everyone as we will celebrate and relax after our locker clean-out.

Pep Band –Double header this Friday, the 19th. We’ll decide later in the week what we are wearing –athletics have some shirts but not quite enough for all of us. If they get more in, we’ll have those; if not, we’ll wear our blue polos again.

Fund-raising Information

  • Fundraisers - The Time is NOW!
    Holiday wreaths and swags.  Support the band and order a beautiful, fresh and locally-made Holiday Wreath or Swag!  Wreaths are $20 and swags are $15.  Order forms are attached and all orders, including payment, must be placed by November 17. (Order forms will also be available at the next Band Booster Meeting on November 6). 

    Wreaths and swags will be available for pick up on Saturday, December 6, in the band room.

    Prizes!  Top 5 sellers will each receive a $20 gift certificate to Dunkin Donuts.

    Bakers Holiday Chocolates
    Bakers Chocolates in Holiday Boxes are available for sale for $6.50 per box.  These excellent chocolates, made in Greenwood, NE, make excellent stocking stuffers, hostess gifts, and gifts for teachers, co-workers, neighbors and all of the special people in your lives.  Who doesn't like chocolate!!

    The candy will be available for pickup at the next Booster Meeting on November 6and until we are sold out!

    Marcus Theatre Ticket Sales

    Marcus Theatre Tickets make excellent gifts for any occasion. With the holiday season gearing up, why not have a stockpile of certificates on hand!  There are specific gift packages available including gift cards.  The band receives 15% of sales and for every two tickets you purchase, you receive a $3 voucher for concessions. To ensure tickets in time for Christmas, please submit your order and payment by DECEMBER 1.  Link to order forms and more detailed information below.

    The Band Program
    Students at Lincoln East are very fortunate to have a wide variety of quality music ensemble opportunities. Below is a brief summary of each group and its role in the East Band Program. These ensembles can be subdivided into two major groups: Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular.

    Co-curricular ensembles meet during the school day and you must be enrolled through Lincoln East to participate. You receive a grade for these ensembles and therefore must adhere to the grading requirements set forth by each class.

    Extra-Curricular ensembles are not classes. They typically meet outside the school day and in no way are required to be in Band at East. They are meant to be extra opportunities that are open to East Band students.
